Get ready for some new relationship advice focused on your pre-text game. Why? Because preparation is important! You would never dream of getting ready for a date without brushing your teeth, right? So, don't even think of sending a text message to your special someone without preparing yourself beforehand. Make sure you are in the right, positive frame of mind to really rock their world.

Many times new relationship advice revolves around what to wear, or how to look. While tucking in your shirt, making eye contact and brushing your teeth are all important, so is your mindset, especially when texting. Feeling positive is key!

New Relationship Advice Filled With Positive Vibes

Unfortunately, being perky isn’t always easy, because seriously, life is tough. So, in order to put your “best self” forward in your next flirty text message, take a minute to do one (or all!) of the following:

1. Listen To “That Song”

I have a list of specific songs that I listen to before making important calls, writing tricky emails, or sending text messages that I don’t feel like sending. It might sound stupid, but it works.

2. Puss In Boots Yourself

What does Shrek have to do with new relationship advice? A lot if Puss In Boots melts your heart every time he flashes “those eyes”. Go out of your way to look at something that makes you happy. For example: a picture of a newborn kitty, a gorgeous exotic beach, or maybe a simple photo of your family. Not working? Google funny quotes and look at the images.

3. Read A Joke, Or Watch A Few Minutes Of A Stand-Up Act

Eddie Murphy gets me every time. I love his wit and dirty sense of humor. If I need an instant smile on my face, Eddie is my go-to man. Find a website or a comedian that does it for you and have a few giggles.

4. Be Vain For Once

Being vain is probably not something you expect to run across in new relationship advice columns. However, it’s a great idea. Pretend you are a Kardashian and take a long look at yourself in the mirror. Let it all soak in and focus on your best traits. Do you have a button nose, dimples or maybe great hair? Give yourself a well-deserved compliment.

5. Jot It Down

If you have a million things on your “to-do” list floating around in your head, and sapping your energy? If so, take a minute to write them down. Many times just seeing something written out on paper makes it more manageable. The same applies to feelings. If you are mad at your partner, write out your frustration. Just don’t forget to rip it up.

Tweaking Negative Text Examples

It’s easier than you might think to turn a downer message into an enticing treat. Here are some examples of fine-tuning negative vibe messages and transforming them into something positive:

Negative: “What’s up? Not much on this side, just trying to make it through the day…”
Positive: “Hey rock-star, how are you? Pretty calm over here…got some craziness to send my way?”

Negative: “I feel so fat today! Why did we eat all those cookies last night?”
Positive: “Hey evil one I think we better lay off the Pringles, or I’m going to look like the Pillsbury dough girl!”

New Relationship Advice To Start Off Right

People are attracted to positive people and positive text messages.[Tweet “If you want your text messages to be a success, be upbeat.”] If you try these tips and still can’t force a smile, forget writing the text and do something else. Remember, a negative text has just as much potential impact as a positive text and can be read, re-read, and re-read again. Ouch. So, what’s the biggest piece of new relationship advice that you should always keep in mind? Be positive.

  1. Always great advice!! Excellent examples and always something new!

I need some advice on old class mates, I have had a few men contact me (they all know I am married), and they say the ‘negative’ as you mention above – “Hi, how are you” and I say “hi” back, and then…”Just looking at your pictures on FB” and I say “cool”, then “I am lonely”…How am I supposed to respond to that?

    HELP!

    1. Thank you so much!!!! 🙂
Old class mates, married men looking for a fling, or people that you just aren’t remotely interested in can be extremely annoying, and hard to deal with.
I would either do one of two things:
      – completely change the topic of the conversation and ignore their comment
      or
      – write something back about how you know they will find “the one” very soon…
Keep the conversation light and throw out an odd fact that is slightly humorous.
For example: “it is scientifically proven that people flirt more, and find love easier in summertime due to the increased levels of serotonin produced by the sunlight”. Please let me know how it goes 🙂 Bisous, Claudia
